NAPLES, ME :: After a 5 year absence, North America’s best short trackers will return to Speedway 95 this Sunday afternoon when the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models take to the track for the Hight Chevrolet-Buick-GMC 150.  The 1/3 mile track located in Hermon, ME will see a great slate of action in addition to the PASS North Super Late Models, including the PASS Modifieds and PASS Sportsman divisions.

Despite not being on the schedule in recent years, Speedway 95 has a long history with PASS dating back to the series inception in 2001.  With the exception of the 2008 season, Speedway 95 hosted at least one PASS event every year from 2001-2009.  And, the list of winners at Speedway 95 reads like a “who’s who” in New England short track racing history.  All-time PASS wins leader Ben Rowe leads all drivers at Speedway 95 with three victories, while Sam Sessions, Scott Chubbuck, Cassius Clark, and Johnny Clark have each won there twice.  Other drivers to claim PASS triumphs at Speedway 95 include Tracy Gordon, Mike Rowe, and Richie Dearborn.

As the PASS North stars prepare to compete in the Hight Chevrolet-Buick-GMC 150 Sunday afternoon at Speedway 95, the battle for the championship continues to be a good one.  6-Time PASS North champion Johnny Clark has reclaimed the top spot in the standings over New Hampshire’s DJ Shaw by just seven points, while Mike Rowe, Joey Doiron, and defending series champion Cassius Clark remain within striking distance.  C. Clark believes knowledge of Speedway 95’s tricky layout could play into the hands of the veterans this Sunday afternoon.

“Speedway 95 has 2 distinct grooves with the top side being preferred,” said Clark.  “It’s been a few years since we’ve been there, but we’re really looking forward to getting back and putting on a good show.”

And, while all eyes will be on the championship battle, one cannot lose sight of several other strong contenders in the field including leading Speedway 95 winner Ben Rowe and 2-Time defending Oxford 250 winner Travis Benjamin.  C. Clark hopes his motivation to win the Hight Chevrolet-Buick-GMC 150, which is also the sponsor of his Hight Motorsports #77, will prove to be greater than that of his competition.

“Speedway 95 has always been a track I’ve enjoyed going to,” said Clark.  “Hight’s is sponsoring the race and we are looking to put our #77 Chevrolet in victory lane Sunday afternoon.”

A big weekend of action at Speedway 95 kicks off on Saturday, August 23 with optional practice for all divisions from 4 – 7 PM.  On Sunday, August 24, pit gates open at 9 AM, with rotating practice 11 AM – 1:30 PM, followed by heat races at 2 PM, and the main events for the PASS Sportsman, PASS Modifieds, and PASS North Super Late Models in the Hight Chevrolet-Buick-GMC 150.
