CHARLOTTE, NC (March 20) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials announced today the creation of an exciting new program aimed at giving short track racers across the country a chance at racing in one of the sport’s most legendary events. In 2012, PASS will sanction the revitalized All-American 400 at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, TN. “The Road To The All-American 400” will give racers in other major events around the country a chance at racing at Nashville in October. Races that are currently part of the “Road To The All-American 400” include: the Apple Blossom 200 on May 5th at Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval in Washington state, the Spears SRL Southwest Tour event on May 12th at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Nevada, the PASS South Firecracker 150 at Anderson Motor Speedway in South Carolina on July 3rd, and the Coors Light Montana 200 at Montana Raceway Park on July 21st.
Two additional qualifiers are currently under negotiation and could be added at a later date. Winners at these select qualifying events will be automatic qualifiers for the All-American 400. However, they will have 14 days to file their entry with PASS and pay their entry fee. Also, that driver has to exhaust every means necessary to qualify for the race (time trials, heat race, consolation race, etc). After they’ve exhausted all means, if they have still not gotten into the race, that’s when they will be eligible to fall back on their guaranteed spot.
“We are really excited about announcing the “Road To The All-American 400,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “This race is so special to so many people that we wanted to do something to help racers from coast-to-coast be a part of the All-American 400. I just want to thank Larry [Spears SRL], Maria [Montana Raceway Park], Garrett [Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval, and Sylvia [Anderson Motor Speedway] for being a part of this program and putting short track racers everywhere first. ”
The “Road To The All-American 400” could not happen without the work of great promoters from across the country and they are all excited about creating this opportunity for the racers.
“I think it’s a miracle that we’re way out here on the West Coast, about as far away from Nashville as you can be, and one of our racers is gonna get a chance to race in the All-American 400,” said Garrett Evans, a racer himself and owner of Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval. “The All-American 400 is one of the top, marquee races in the country and a lot of the guys I have talked to out here are really excited about it. They never thought they would get a chance to run it. I think what Tom and everybody with PASS is doing is great for short track racing.”
“We are honored that the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series has been selected by PASS to be part of their 2012 “Road to the All-American 400” program,” said Spears SRL Southwest Tour Managing Director Larry Collins. “Having the winner of our May 12th race at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway get an automatic starting position in the PASS All-American 400 is a great opportunity for one of our race teams to be part of one of the great traditions in our sport. Again, I want to thank Tom for making the Spears SRL Southwest Tour part of this great program.”
“Here in Glacier Country we are extremely excited to be a part of this legendary race,” said Montana Raceway Park Promoter Marie AuClaire. “We envision the best of the best for our crown jewel, the 22nd Annual Coors Light Montana 200, and to be a part of this national opportunity only fuels the intensity of this race. We look forward to watching the best of best vie for the All-American 400 title and to be a part of this is just great.”
With excitement building around the country, there is no doubt that the glory days of the All-American 400 are back again. Super Late Model drivers from all over North America will race with PASS for 400 laps at the famed Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville on Friday and Saturday October 5-6.
