NEWPORT, TN :: Newport Speedway sat idle during the 2015 season but just as the season is winding down around the region, good news has come from the 3/10 mile track as preparations are being made for 2016.
Andy Hyde has leased the high banked short track for 2016. According to a Facebook post Hyde and his staff will be releasing information on rules, divisions and schedule shortly.
This is really good news for an area that has been hit hard with tracks shutting down over the last several years including Rock Castle Speedway (KY) and Corbin Speedway (KY). For more information check out the Newport Speedway Facebook Page.
