MYRTLE BEACH, SC :: The Myrtle Beach 400 has been a staple of the Late Model Stock scene since 1996, when Jay Fogleman started from the pole and went on to win the 250 lap race.
The “400” hasn’t always been a Late Model Stock event. Back in 1993, when the event was announced it was a NASCAR All-Pro Series race. Run under the All-Pro Series, the race was originally 400 laps and ended the season for the series.
Jody Ridley won the first Myrtle Beach 400 back in November of 1993, taking home $15,200 for the win.
In 20 years, Frank Deiny, Jr is the all time wins leader with four victories, and three in a row from 2004 to 2006. Robert Powell picked up wins in 2001 and 2002.
Anthony Anders was the victor back in March of this year, winning the rain delayed 2012 running of the race.
