Ohio native, Ricky Bowers, earned a Top 5 finish Saturday night in the Southeast Super Truck Series at Kingsport Speedway in Kingsport, Tennessee.
This great finish could not have come at a better time for Bowers, as he and his number 61 Leicht Motorsports team are closing in on winning Rookie of the Year.
“I am really happy with how we performed at Kingsport,” Bowers said, “my team has worked hard to give me a great truck and after a summer of bad luck, we turned the momentum around with a solid Top 5.” Bowers raced a smart race by maintaining Top 10 speed, which allowed him to save his equipment in the first half of the race. With 40 laps to go, Bowers began his move to the front, eventually crossing the checkered flag in 4th place.
Next up for Bowers is the Southeast Super Truck Season finale at Tri-County Speedway in Hudson, North Carolina. He and the number 61 Leicht Motorsports Team hold a 13 point lead in the Rookie of the Year standings heading into the last race.
“We are excited about competing for Rookie of the Year, and hope to finish the 2015 season on a high note. I would like to thank all of my sponsors; Cometic Gasket, Sikk Shades as well as MPM Marketing, for all their support throughout the season which has helped allow me to be in the position for Rookie of the Year.”
The number 61 truck will be sporting some different colors at Tri-County Speedway. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Bowers will be racing with some pink on the truck. He plans to place pink ribbon decals with names of individuals who wish to be recognized on his number 61 truck for the 75 lap race.
Bowers asks that if you are or know someone who has been affected by Breast Cancer, please let us know their name on the Ricky Bowers Racing Facebook page so that those names can be help spread the awareness.
