RUCKERSVILLE, VA :: Philip Morris says he will race more frequently in 2015 after racing on a very limited basis over the last three seasons.
Morris says that, as of right now, he won’t run for points unless something changes but that he will run “part-time” in 2015 – likely either at South Boston Speedway or Motor Mile Speedway.
“We’ll be racing part-time unless something changes,” Morris said. “Part-time meaning one track every weekend, full time would be running for points. We’ll be racing every weekend, somewhere.”
Morris is a four-time NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National Champion. Those championships came in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2011. 2011 was the last season Morris ran full-time.
In 2012, Morris, while racing for Jim Dean, cut back to a part-time schedule. He was unable to compete in the Danville Toyota 300, which was the season opening race that year, due to financial issues. Despite only running a handful of races that season, Morris did go on to win the season’s biggest race that year, the MDCU 300 at Martinsville Speedway.
Morris only competed in a handful of races in 2013, including Martinsville. In 2014, he was able to race a little more frequently in the second half of the season when he drove for Steve James in the summer months at South Boston Speedway.
