CHARLOTTE, NC :: With a quarter of the season behind them, the racers and fans of the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models are raving about the competition thus far. In the first four races of the year, three have been decided in the final two laps and the other with a pass for the win with 10 laps to go by Daniel Hemric who nearly lost a lap in the early stages at Greenville. Hemric followed that win in the Woodman Racing #41 at Greenville up by driving the Carswell Motorsports #98 around Cole Timm with two laps to go for the win at Dillon. At Orange County, Roger Lee Newton and Trevor Noles battled from the drop of the green flag of the Orange Blossom Special to Newton taking the checkered flag as Noles spun across the finish line. Then, at Hickory, hometown favorite Tyler Church appeared to be on his way to a popular win until a bump by DJ Shaw entering turn three on the final lap sent Church up the track and Shaw to victory lane.
Many expect the same type of thrilling action that has been seen so far this season at the series’ next event, the Ace’s High 150 at Ace Speedway on Friday night May 9. This will be the first time the PASS South Super Late Models have visited Ace since 2011 when Clay Rogers took the checkered flag over Ryan Blaney, who incidentally won there earlier that season. Ace Speedway is known as being one of the toughest, tightest 4/10 mile tracks in the South. With drivers dropping their left side tires down on the flat apron to help their machines turn around the tricky speedway. Impressive second year PASS South Super Late Model driver Cole Timm takes it even a step further.
“The quick way around Ace is when your left side door hits the inside wall in turn one and two,” said Timm, who currently sits second in PASS South points.
After coming close several times to capturing that elusive first PASS South victory, Timm feels he might have his best shot yet in the Ace’s High 150 at Ace Speedway. Before graduating to PASS South, Timm was one of the top drivers in the upstart PASS Pro Late Model division. And, Ace Speedway was one of his best tracks on the circuit.
“Ace has been one of my most successful racetracks for sure,” said Timm. “I had four wins there in the PASS Pro Late Model division when it first started out as the Super Limited class. Right now, we’re 4 for 4 at Ace and undefeated. Hopefully we can make it 5 for 5.”

Action gets under way on Friday, May 9th at Ace Speedway with pit gates opening at Noon and rotating practice for all divisions from 2 – 5 PM. Qualifying will begin at 6 PM and racing will start at 8 PM, featuring the Ace’s High 150 for the PASS South Super Late Models, 50 laps for the PASS Pro Late Models, and action for the USAC HPD Midget Series.
