Event PR Release
Altamahaw, NC(March 6, 2012) – The first race of its kind will be held this Saturday, October 13 at Alamance County’s Ace Speedway. The first annual Mischa Sell Memorial 174 race will honor late stage breast cancer warrior, Mischa Sell, the wife of Limited Late Model competitor David Sell, who completed a six year battle with breast cancer earlier this year. Continuing on her quest to assist other families who are battling this disease, the Mischa Sell Memorial 174 will benefit families who are affected by late stage cancer through the Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation (JAJF).
Fans in attendance will be treated to a 74-lap Limited Late Model and 35-lap Dirt Late Model Feature Event, along with twin 25-lap USAC Midget championship races. Fans will also have a chance to honor a loved one who is or has battled late stage cancer by signing a memorial banner that will be on display as well as releasing a balloon in memory of their loved one.
“This will be the first event of its kind at Ace Speedway,” said David Sell, race coordinator. “Not only will we be celebrating the life of my wonderful wife, who was always very supportive of my passion for racing, but this is the first event of its kind, at Ace Speedway, which will pair our weekly asphalt limited late models with the late models that normally compete on dirt tracks as well as hosting championship races for an exciting series like the USAC Midgets. Those competing in and attending these exciting races will also have an opportunity to give back to an organization that is near and dear to my wife and family.”
Jon Albert, founder of the Jack & Jill Late Late Stage Cancer Foundation, said that he is excited and honored to see families affected by cancer help each other in such a big way.
“Just about this time last year, the Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation was honored to meet and treat Mischa, David, Trevor and Daniel Sell to a WOW Experience,” said Albert. “We are proud of the families we’ve impacted from 44 states in our first 5+ years. How special to pay tribute to Mischa while benefiting many other families facing similar circumstances.”
Ace Speedway General Manager, Brad Allen said that he is looking forward to holding this event at the 4/10-mile track. “I am honored to be assisting families affected by late stage cancer in the best way that I know how, by holding a race that his sure to have fans on the edge of their seats,” said Allen. “In fact, we are looking at making this an annual event to benefit late stage cancer patients like Mischa.”
Limited Late Model race participants will compete for a $1,000 payout to the race winner with an additional $1,000 supplemented by double file restart cone sponsor, PrimetimeCyber Café, who will also be contributing $500 to event beneficiary, the Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation.
Limited Late Model competitors will also have a chance to compete for additional winnings, including $100 to the top qualifier, presented by subTEK Shirts, $150 to the driver who gains the most positions and $250 to the driver who leads the most laps, both bonuses presented by Crane & Rigging Corporation, $500 to the halfway leader, presented by Midway Trailer Rental, Inc, a $200 bonus to the runner up of the 74-lap race, presented by Pendry Home Improvements.
