RALEIGH, NC :: Raleigh Businessman Mike Stodder has reached a deal to acquire the assets of Wake County Speedway from current speedway Owner and President Adam Resnick. In addition to acquiring the speedway assets, Stodder has agreed to terms with the Simpkins family to lease the property well into the future.

The Wake County Speedway, located at 2109 Simpkins Road in Raleigh, is a banked quarter mile paved oval affectionately known as “America’s Favorite Bullring”. The Speedway has a loyal following of race fans and competitors that have come to enjoy the close, hard racing produced at the track for decades.

Mike Stodder stated, “My goal is to work hard to earn the trust and respect of the fans and competitors while continuing to build on the solid foundation that the Simpkins family, and most recently Adam Resnick, have built over the last six decades.” He went on to say, “I’ve been involved with the Wake County Speedway in different capacities over the years. I was a car owner and driver there from 1989 to 1994, have sponsored several cars since then, and most recently have been involved at the speedway as an advertiser with my business, Accent Imaging, Inc. There is just something about this place that brings you back to a simpler time and lets you soak in some great Carolina short track racing. It really is quite an experience, and my wife Kristie and I, along with the staff of the speedway, look forward to carrying on that storied tradition.”

Stodder continued, “We’re also very pleased to announce that Charlie Hansen has agreed to come on board as our VP of Operations for the 2015 racing season. Charlie has a successful resume in North Carolina short track operations, and will oversee the facility on a day to day basis.” Charlie added, “We’re excited to build on the momentum and great work that both Adam Resnick and his team have accomplished over the last two seasons. With the exciting history of the Wake County Speedway, there is just something magical about the unique entertainment experience of attending an event here. Our ultimate goal is to put on a great show for the devoted Wake County Speedway fans and competitors, while expanding the entertainment offering to attract new fans to the facility.”

Deborah Simpkins‐McDonald added, “The Simpkins Family feels very blessed to have Mike and Charlie take over the day to day operations at the speedway. Mike has proven to have great leadership and people skills, and with Charlie’s knowledge of Motorsports venues, the two of them will be a winning combination for the track. I feel like this has been an answer to a prayer! If you know the Simpkins family, we eat, drink, and sleep auto racing! I would also like to thank Adam Resnick and his family for two great years. The Resnick family, and Michael Cooper, will be truly missed.”

The new racing season is scheduled to start at the beginning of April with an Open Media Day toward the end of March. For up to date information please follow the Wake County Speedway website at www.wcspeedway.com and/or the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/wakecountyspeedway.
