DILLON, SC :: The Mid-Atlantic Street Stock Championship Series is returning for a second season with an expanded schedule.  The eight race schedule features races at five different racetracks in two states.

The series’ second season builds on momentum carried over by the inaugural tour.

Barfield worked with former Ace Speedway general manager Brad Allen and current Southern National Motorsports Park promoter Langley Austin to give birth to the tour.  Barfield said he was excited about the growth of the series in the second season.

“It’s a great series that was started by me, Brad and Langley,” Barfield said.  “We’ve built the momentum of keeping the Mid-Atlantic Street Stock Championship schedule going.  We put some races together and we’re looking forward to a good year.”

While a majority of the races are held at Dillon, the track where the series has been founded, the tour will also make stops at the newly re-opened half-mile Concord Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, North Carolina, Myrtle Beach Speedway in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and the Sumter Speedway dirt track in Sumter, South Carolina.

The first race of the eight race series was held at Dillon Motor Speedway on January 10th in a race won by Jeff Melton.  The second race will be held on March 21st at Dillon.  On May 22nd, the series will join the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) and the KOMA Unwind Modified Madness Series at Concord.  The series will head back to Dillon on July 11th.  On August 11th, the tour will head to Myrtle Beach Speedway and then head north to Southern National Motorsports Park on September 12th.  The final race at Dillon will be held on October 25th and the series’ season finale will be held at the 3/8-mile Sumter Speedway dirt track on November 7th.

Barfeld said the series aims to keep the old-school look and feel of Street Stock racing alive, using older, more traditional “stock” bodies.  Last year’s tour was originally scheduled to be run at Ace Speedway, Dillon Motor Speedway and Franklin County Speedway but the Franklin County event was moved to Dillon.  Ricky Locklair, Jr. scored the championship in the inaugural Mid-Atlantic Street Stock Championship tour.  Locklair finished second to Melton in the first round of the 2015 tour at Dillon earlier this month.
