PUNTA GORDA, FL :: Another beautiful night for racing this past Saturday night (January 31) at Three Palms Speedway in Punta Gorda, Florida as the Pro Trucks were on the racing card.
Qualifying action started on time as the drivers battled for position for the feature starting positions.
The TQ Midgets were up first on this evening as they were going to run two features this evening. In the first TQ feature Jamie Barnum took the checkers as Mike Belusar finished second. Rob Kohler from Naples, Florida was third. Mike Nelson rounded out the top four as the feature went non-stop.
The Thunder Trcks put on another fine feature as Lance Sober come from the back after spinning in turn two for the feature win. Naples’ own James Wright in his black number 62 Chevy truck was second. Kris Bridges finished third.
Pure Stock action saw Brian Hiller from North Port, Florida in his Chevrolet Camaro took home the win. He won after the “X” car driven by Codey Benoit was disqualified after taking the checkers first. Lonnie Retherford and Jeff Pacheco finished second and third respectively.
Street Stock action saw Mike Kerrivan het passed on turn four on the last lap by Danny Brown but he failed post-race inspection. Joe Gentry was second. Richard Shelnut was third.
Pro Truck action saw a strong field of trucks. Michael Burns of Port Charlotte, Florida jumped out to an early lead and held on for the victory in the 25 lap main event at Three Palms Speedway in Punta Gorda, Florida. Chad Chastain finished second but was disqualified at the scales. That moved Cody Martell up to second. John Garrett, Steven King and David Patterson rounded out the top five.
The last event for the evening saw Mike Belusar move up one spot in the second TQ Midget feature to take the win. Rob Kohler was second. The evenings first feature winner dropped to third in the second feature, Jamie Barnum. Mike Nelson finished out the top four.
Three Palms Speedway in Punta Gorda Florida will be back in action this Saturday February 7th at 5 P.M. with Dwarfs, Mod Minis, Outlaw 4’s, Bombers, Sportsman and Pure Stocks. Pit gates open at 1:30 P.M. with grandstand side at 3:30 P.M.. Admission is still only 5 bucks and Bring Your Own Seat.
