CHARLOTTE, NC :: Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry is pleased to announce that a deal has been finalized to include the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Cars at this year’s season ending Mason Dixon Meltdown at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, NC. The 8th Annual Mason Dixon Meltdown will be held November 22-23 and will serve as one of the biggest PASS races of the year. Several champions will be crowned at the Meltdown including the PASS National Super Late Model Champion, the PASS South Super Late Model Champion, and the PASS Pro Late Model Champion. In addition to 200 green flag laps of PASS Super Late Model racing, the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Cars will bring an added element of speed and excitement to an already action packed weekend.
“The Mason Dixon Meltdown has always been exciting because it brings the best Super Late Model racers from the North and South together for one final time as we crown the PASS National and PASS South Champions,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “The addition of the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Cars will be great. It will give our fans the chance to not only see Winged Sprint Cars race on asphalt, but it will also give them a glimpse of some of the fastest cars to race on short tracks period. These guys have been setting track records everywhere they go and I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see them do the same at Southern National.”
Since its inception in 2006, the Mason Dixon Meltdown has become a “must see” event for short track fans around the country. The inaugural race was held at Virginia’s South Boston Speedway and featured the PASS Super Late Models and Tour-type Modifieds. The Meltdown has rotated between several tracks including South Boston Speedway, North Carolina’s Concord Speedway, and Tennessee’s high-banked Newport Speedway. Dominated in its early years by New Englanders, the Southern contingent has fared much better in recent editions. In 2013, the Mason Dixon Meltdown will move to Southern National Motorsports Park for the first time. It will also mark the first ever visit to Southern National for the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Cars. With their season winding down in late summer, the Meltdown will provide a great opportunity for the Midwest’s best Winged Sprint Car drivers to get a final race in down South prior to winter.
“All of us at Must See Racing are really looking forward to our first visit competing in the rich history of the Mason Dixon Meltdown and the anticipated speed at Southern National Motorsports Park on November 23rd,” said Must See Racing President Jim Hanks. “Our race teams from across the country and Canada are looking forward to challenging the track record and entertaining the fans with high speed open wheel to open wheel action. The MSR 900 plus horsepower direct drive sprint cars that only weigh 1600 lbs. with down force wings are sure to make this a wild, memorable and entertaining race for all the fans.”
The 8th Annual Mason Dixon Meltdown at Southern National Motorsports Park will cap an exciting November which will see the PASS South Super Late Models featured in another marquee event, the North South Shootout at Caraway Speedway onNovember 9.
