Richmond Raceway (Richmond) announces NASCAR Whelen All-American Series driver Mike Looney as the Honorary Pace Car Driver for the Federated Auto Parts 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoff race on Saturday, Sept. 21. Looney, a native of Catawba, Va., will lead the field to green in the Official Toyota Camry Pace Car for the second race of the first round of the Monster Energy Series Playoffs “under the lights.”
“We are proud to welcome Racing Virginia driver Mike Looney to America’s Premier Short Track as the Honorary Pace Car Driver for the Federated Auto Parts 400,” said Richmond President Dennis Bickmeier. “It’s always a great moment when we can get back to our short track roots with a Virginian behind the wheel of the Official Toyota Camry Pace Car. We look forward to watching him take to the track and lead the field to green for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.”
“It’s an honor to be recognized by Richmond Raceway for the Federated Auto Parts 400,” said Mike Looney. “We are a small fish in a big pond and it’s great to accomplish enough in racing to get this level of recognition.”
Looney, a 13-time winner this season, was the runner-up in the 2019 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Division 1 National Championship. He was crowned the 2019 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Division 1 Virginia State Champion as well as the 2019 Motor Mile Speedway Track Champion. He is also the 2016 winner of ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway, which is the final race in the Virginia Triple Crown.

Richmond Raceway 2019 NASCAR Season
NASCAR returns “under the lights” to Richmond for the NASCAR Playoffs Race Weekend presented by Who’s Your Driver on Sept. 20-21. America’s Premier Short Track will start the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs with the Go Bowling 250 playoff race on Friday, Sept. 20. Richmond will host the second race of the Monster Energy Series Playoffs with the Federated Auto Parts 400 playoff race on Friday, Sept. 21.
