TROY, NC :: Tommy Lemons, Jr. dominated the first of two twin features at Motor Mile Speedway on Saturday night August 8th, picking up his second win of the season.
Lemons has been poised to get back to victory lane since his early July breakthrough win at Caraway Speedway in the Rusty Harpe Memorial. Circumstances had kept him from winning several races in the last month despite having a car capable of winning but, on Saturday night, he finished the job and got back to victory lane. Lemons led 73 laps en route to the victory in the first of twin races.
“The guys had the car near perfect,” Lemons said following the race. “We’ve had good cars here all season and something has always kept us from being able to get to victory lane but not tonight. This is a good win for us. You always want to win at Motor Mile given the level of competition that competes here week in and week out.”
Lemons capped off the night with a second place finish in the second and final race of the night.
“To get one win and a second place finish tonight is awesome,” Lemons commented. “We would have rather won them both but we needed the runs we got tonight. This team can win any given week and I’m just thankful I’m the one in the drivers seat.”
Lemons will return to Motor Mile Speedway for his next event of the season on August 22nd. He will be looking to get back to victory lane and keep the wins coming.
“We want to get more wins as we finish up the 2015 season,” remarked Lemons. “This team should have had more wins already but little things have kept us from it. Motor Mile is a place where we can get on a roll late and really get some momentum headed into the bigger races at the end of the season.”
