Anderson Motor Speedway’s Summer Sizzle set the perfect scenario for Lee Faulk Racing’s two drivers, Nolan Pope and Austin Green, to sweep twin 40-lap features on Friday night.
Nolan Pope picked up his second win in three weeks in the first of the twin races on Friday night. Pope patiently worked his way through the field, taking the lead on lap 26 of the 40-lap feature en route to the victory. He was also victorious at Anderson Motor Speedway on July 27 when he earned the first stock car victory of his career.
“These Lee Faulk Racing race cars are just awesome and I couldn’t be prouder to drive them,” Pope said. “This just proves that our first win a few weeks back was no fluke and we’re ready to compete for even more wins. Thanks to everyone who supports me, my mom and dad, MPM Marketing, I wouldn’t be able to do this without them.”
Green had started on the pole but finished fifth behind Pope, Luke Sorrow, Colby Howard and Trey Gibson.
The top seven finishers sans the winner redrew for position and despite his fifth-place finish he was able to draw the pole and after surviving several caution periods, he would go on to lead every lap of the second race.
“Two poles and a win in two races at Anderson, there’s just something about that track that I liked immediately. It just came to me naturally and the track suits my driving style,” Green said. “I’m really starting to figure some things out. I’ve had more seat time lately to figure out what I need, what I can do and what I can’t do. That’s important because this was the first of five back-to-back races we’ll be running.”
Behind him, Gibson, Sorrow, Zach Bruenger, and Kenneth Headen completed the top five.
