PENSACOLA, FL :: No race at Five Flags Speedway is ever truly official until all the cars have passed post-race technical inspection in the so-called Room of Doom. That fact was once again made abundantly clear on Saturday night when Snowball Derby Last Chance Race winner Travis Braden was disqualified, denying him a spot in Sunday’s big race.
The left side of Braden’s car was found to have weight issues on the left side by head technical inspector Ricky Brooks, handing the victory over the Garrett Jones.
Jones, Ty Majeski and Kyle Plott had already earned their way into the Derby field but the disqualification also permitted Cole Timm into the official starting lineup. They join Anderson Bowen, David Rogers and Clay Rogers who also earned the final positions based on provisionals and championship points.
The top-30 starting positions were determined by time trials on Friday night. Hunter Robbins won the pole and will be joined on the front row by girlfriend Johanna Long. The starting lineup for the 47th Snowball Derby can be found below.
