ROUGEMONT, NC :: Kyle Dudley has been told for years that he can’t win anywhere but Franklin County Speedway. He silenced those doubters on Saturday night with a victory at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, North Carolina.
Dudley took possession of the lead from Chris Denny at the initial start of the race. He and Denny exchanged the lead multiple times during the race. After surrendering the lead halfway through the race, Dudley took advantage of a late race restart and stormed passed Denny to retake the lead and win the race in his first ever start at Orange County Speedway.
“It felt awesome man,” Dudley said about his victorious performance. “I knew we could and can still win other places out team is really strong and I am really excited to get this one and get some momentum going.”
Dudley says his current plans are on a race-by-race basis. He plans on competing in the MDCU 300 at Martinsville Speedway and also plans on completing the season at Motor Mile Speedway.
“My plans are still definitely up in the air,” Dudley explained. “I’m not running for points anywhere or anything like that so my plans are just going to be to race as much as I can. I know we are going to go to the last two a Motor Mile and we are going to Martinsville, but the rest is still up in the air. I’d love to go try Lonesome Pine and to get back to Caraway and Orange County at some point but it all just depends really. Right now, I just know I’ll be racing somewhere.”
Dudley, who is a three-time champion at Franklin County Speedway, had four wins on the season prior to Saturday’s race – all four coming at Franklin County. But, Dudley’s also had a lot of rough luck. Dudley’s hoping his rough luck is behind him so he can finish out the season on a high note heading in to Martinsville.
“I’ve had to sit too many out already because of getting behind due to wrecks and the horrible luck I’ve had this year so I want to finish the season strong and I really feel like we are peaking at the right time with Martinsville coming up and all that.”
