El Reno, Oklahoma(March 21, 2012) — Over the past few years, twenty year-old Kenzie Ruston has not only become a star on the race track but, her charitable efforts have made her a star off the track as well. Now the El Reno, Oklahoma native is making a dream come true for a special little girl.
Teressa Harp is a twelve year-old little girl from Oklahoma that is fighting her second round of Rhabdomyosarcoma, which is a cancerous tumor of the muscles that are attached to the bones. Teressa was first diagnosed in September of 2010 and after a year of grueling chemo, and brain surgery, the cancer has returned and the survival rate is now next to zero.
This courageous little girl lives with her grandparents and two siblings after the unexpected death of her mother several years ago. Life hasn’t been exactly easy for Teressa and one of the things that puts a smile on her face is keeping up with Kenzie and her racing efforts.
“I was touched immediately by this little girl’s story” says Ruston. “When Theresa Coffman with Cruise 4 Cancer brought this to my attention I knew right away that I had to do something to make her smile and take her mind off what she is faced with.”
Over the past several years Teressa has become a huge Kenzie Ruston fan and it was brought to Kenzie’s attention by the great people with Cruise 4 Cancer Foundation. Cruise 4 Cancer has also been helping to assist Teressa’s grandmother with medical bills and other day to day expenses that the family cannot afford due to the circumstances they are presented with.
“You never realize how good you have it until you hear about a story like this. Teressa is fighting for her life and the doctors have told her that the chances are slim but she continues to fight on top of the circumstances she is presented with, it just breaks your heart.” continued Ruston
To honor Teressa’s life and fight with cancer the Kenzie Ruston Racing team has partnered up with Cruise 4 Cancer Foundation to help bring this little girl some joy. Kenzie will be running a special decal on her No.39 MelMark Pipe & Supply racecar for the ARCA CRA Super Series season opener at Anderson Speedway (IN) on April 14th, 2012.
“It’s a small piece to what our team is going to try and do for this family but I know this one will put a big smile on her face. We have several things in the works with Cruise 4 Cancer and I am excited to bring some happiness to this family.”
