Hickory, NC(March 21, 2009) ~ Jesse James LeFevers lived up to the pre-season hype that he’s received here on RACE22.com as he unseated the tracks new ‘King’ in the season opener at Hickory Motor Speedway.
Andy Mercer started from the pole, but it was LeFevers who took home the win in a atight battle between the two drivers that saw the race go right down to the checkered flag. Dexter Canipe, Jr. made his first start for a new team and took home a third place finish over Grant Wimbish and James Goff. It was a great night for the Pistone LTO Chassis sweeping the top four positions not to mention a dominating win at Bristol Motor Speedway with Matt McCall.
Joe Gibbs Racing development driver, Matt DiBenedetto was also running at Hickory, but finished eighth after getting caught up in an accident. 15 cars started the race.
