KING GEORGE, VA :: 19 year-old Hunter Devers is returning to FDJ Motorsports in 2013 to compete in races at Motor Mile Speedway and Southern National Motorsports Park and other select venues. Devers competed with FDJ Motorsports in 2011 and is excited to get back behind the wheel of a FDJ Motorsports entry in 2013.
“I’m excited about it,” Devers said. “Two years ago we just didn’t have the success we wanted to have together. We moved on and found out that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. We’re really excited to be back with Frank (Deiny) and his guys and I know we can hit the ground running.”
Devers thinks with his experience at Motor Mile Speedway in Fairlawn, VA and FDJ’s previous success that they’ll be in the hunt right from the start.
“We raced Motor Mile last year and the year before that. I know the track and the competition there. I’m excited to get back and start racing again. Frank’s program is even better now than what it was when we were with him in 2011. No one knows more about Motor Mile than him.”
Frank Deiny, Jr., owner of FDJ Motorsports, is excited about having Devers back in one of his cars.
“It’s going to be great,” Deiny said. “We spent a lot of time with him before and getting his skills better and better. Last year, he improved as a driver. You can’t beat experience. I think it’ll be really good this year.
“I feel like we keep making our product better. In racing that’s a never ending process. You’ve got to work on the cars to make them better and we have. We’ve got all new front end geometry. We tested two cars, a car with our new stuff on it and one with last year’s stuff on it, last week and our new stuff is two-tenths faster than our old stuff.”
If things go well for Devers, he may have an opportunity to run in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series.
“We do have more seats available for more than just the ‘Dirty Dozen’,” Deiny stated. “We’ve got some K&N dates open. If things go well, Hunter will run a race or two in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East as well.”
