Dennis Holdren picked up his first win of the season in Late Model competition with his victory at Franklin County Speedway’s Halloween Havoc on Saturday night. Holdren took the lead from Mike Looney on lap eight and went on to lead the final 42 laps en route to victory.
“I just have to thank the Lord for all that he has blessed me with,” Holdren said in Victory Lane. “My crew worked on this car all year. We’ve been to several different tracks this year. This car’s really shown some good speed. I can’t make these cars run without the help of my guys.”
Mike Looney held off Franklin County Speedway Track Champion Kyle Dudley for the second position as those two raced bumper-to-bumper for several laps.
“It was a fun night all in all,” Looney stated. “I haven’t raced here in two years. I never saw this car before today, never practiced and these guys had it set up real well. Dennis’ car was on a rail. I enjoyed racing Kyle there. Kyle got by me and I had to put a crossover on him to get it back. I can’t believe we ran all 50 laps here caution free.”
Dudley was officially crowned the track champion on Saturday night. Dudley had seven wins on the season in the regular season with only the Bullring Battle (on November 10th) remaining for the Late Model Stock Car competitors at Franklin County Speedway. The 50-lap Late Model race went wire-to-wire without a caution.
“It’s been a pretty good year,” Dudley said. “We really had it going for a while and missed it by a little bit tonight. It was fun running with them tonight. I’m ready to see what will come with the Bullring Battle. It’s been an awesome year with seven wins. I can’t complain about that. We had some awesome cars this year, best field of cars I’ve seen in a long time.”
The next race weekend at Franklin County Speedway will be on Sunday, November 10th for the 125-lap, $2,000-to-win Bullring Battle.
