DILLON, SC :: He might be the smallest and youngest driver to sit behind a wheel of a Late Model in the Pro All Star Series, but Harrison Burton can get the job done just like some of the veteran drivers in America’s biggest Super Late Model touring series. He did just that on Saturday night, scoring his second win of the season in the 50 lap PASS Pro Late Model Series event at the Dillon Motor Speedway in South Carolina.
Burton, with the help of former Late Model Stock Car driver, Brandon McReynolds paced the field for all fifty circuits, only having to encounter a challenge from Trevor Noles on a late race restart. The two would battle side by side for multiple laps until Burton was able to clear Noles and move away for his second win at Dillon.
Noles, with five wins on the season is the tours win leader this season and finished in the runner up spot to Burton on Saturday night. Noles would start the 50 lap event in the fourth. He encounter contact with another car on the opening lap in turn one, but would charge his way to the front.
Jeff Batten, the oldest driver in the Pro Late Model series would come home third on the evening. Batten started second to Harrison Burton, and would fall to fourth on lap one after contact between him and Trevor Noles. Batten’s would have to handle a loose racecar for much of the evening, but was able to work his way by Walker Yates after a lengthy battle for position late in the race.
Local favorite, Hayes Goodson would come home fourth. Goodson would start fifth in the 50 lap event and found himself as high as third before falling to fourth late in the going.
Austin Reed would gain the most positions on the night after starting ninth. Reed would come home fifth following his run up through the field.
The only incident of the night would be for Nick Roberson and Tyler Audie getting together in turn four that would collect Matt Murphy. Roberson and Audie would move away from the accident scene, but Murphy would be done for the night.
The PASS Pro Late Model Series takes the next few weeks off before heading to the famous Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, NC on September 21st.
