RIDGEWAY, VA :: Chad Finchum recorded the fastest lap in qualifying on Saturday afternoon at Martinsville Speedway.  His 20.596 second lap put him on the pole for the first of four heat races that will set the field for Sunday’s Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300.

“It’s the most accomplished thing I think I’ve ever done,” Finchum said.  “I won a championship in my first full season in NASCAR but I think this is the biggest thing I’ve ever done in my entire life.  I couldn’t thank everybody that’s on my time and everybody on that racecar and everybody that’s ever been a part of our race team since I started when I was six years old.  This is the most proud moment I’ve ever had.”

Finchum set the fast lap running a Ford crate engine package, the same engine package he ran all season at Kingsport Speedway where he won the track championship as well as the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Tennessee State Championship.

Finchum’s fast lap in qualifying came hours after he set the fourth fastest lap of the day in practice with a 20.693 second lap.  Finchum, Deac McCaskill, Peyton Sellers and Ryan Stiltner will lead their respective heat races to the green by virtue of being the fastest four qualifiers.
