KINSTON, NC :: Haley Moody picked up her first career win earlier this season and rides a wave of momentum in to Myrtle Beach Speedway where she will be doing double duty.  Moody picked up two wins in the Charger division at Southern National Motorsports Park and finished second in points in the track’s Charger division.

Most recently, Moody ran a Limited Late Model in the Mischa Sell Memorial at Ace Speedway where she finished 11th in the 33 car field.  She also finished third in her first career start at Ace Speedway back in June.

Moody says the team plans to run more races next year in the Limited Late Model ranks and maybe in a Late Model Stock Car if sponsorship pans out.

Moody’s got high expectations for Myrtle Beach.

“Hopefully we can get a win in the Challenger race,” Moody said.  “I do believe I can!  I’ll be running the SouthEast Limited Late Model race as well.  It’s the same thing.  The Challengers use used tires so that’s it.”

Moody says she’s learned a lot in the past season about giving feedback and racing smart around other cars.

“Well my dad and Jamey Caudill have really helped me with driving and to tell them what’s going on with the car so we can get better,” Moody explained.  “Running other tracks helped me learn the pass and drive smart around other cars.”

Racing runs in the family for Moody, who got her start racing at Coastal Plains Raceway.

“My dad has always had a race car and ever since I was little I’ve wanted to drive,” she stated.  “Jamey Caudill drove the car.   I started out racing at 15 in U-CARS at Coastal Plains Raceway in Jacksonville.  I see myself hopefully somewhere in NASCAR (five years from now). I wish! That’s my dream!”

For now, Moody feels like the 2013 season has been a successful one as she looks ahead to Myrtle Beach and the 2014 season.

“I felt accomplished,” Moody said about getting her first win earlier this year.  “That’s what we were working towards and we finally got it.”
