Track PR Report
CONCORD, N.C. (March 30, 2012) – After what wasn’t much of an off-season for Concord Speedway, Opening Night comes with high hopes and a sigh of relief. Concord Speedway spent their off-season doing several renovations to not only the racing surface, but to their overall racing program as well.
Among Concord Speedway’s renovations for this season are fresh paint on all buildings, new bathroom facilities and several landscaping projects. They have also switched concession stand food vendors to US Foods and improved their Late Model division by increasing purse amounts and canceling the entry fee to increase car count and fan excitement.
Most recently, Concord Speedway was able to use the 10,000 dollars they were awarded by NASCAR Hometracks through their Capital Improvement Matching Funds Program to diamond-grind the racing surface to make it smoother, seal the cracks in the pavement and fix a hole in the wall to make the speedway safer.
The speedway hopes to showcase these updates to their fans and competitors this Saturday night, March 31 during their season-opener, the Pepsi 100. Opening Night will feature a 100 lap race for the Late Model Stock Car division with 40 laps for the Street Stocks and 25 laps for the Fast and Furious Fours. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and qualifying begins at 5:45 p.m. with racing action to start at 7:30 p.m. On hand to kick off the 2012 season with their littlest fans will be a face painter and a balloon artist. The speedway will also have a kid’s coin scramble on the frontstretch!
Grandstand admission is just 15 dollars and kids 12 and under are free. Also new for this year, the speedway will be offering a Senior, Teen and Military discount admission of 10 dollars.
Don’t miss the racing excitement at the track where grassroots racing lives, Concord Speedway!
