Hendersonville, NC(May 9, 2012) — The UARA-STARS Series has declared Coleman Pressley as the official winner of the Kingsport UARA 150, which was held Friday, May 4th at Kingsport Speedway in Kingsport, TN.
Pressley crossed the line second to Ronnie Bassett, Jr., who looked to have picked up his third win of the 2012 season, but the win came into question in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 5th during technical inspection. Bassett’s head was deemed to be illegal by UARA-STARS Series officials during inspection, which lasted for hours as the series officials was not only checking the engine, but also made the team pull the seat out of the car, checked the battery box and the wiring harness.
Bassett Racing quickly filed an appeal following the decision, but the UARA’s decision was upheld by Ford Motor Company as the cylinder head in question was deemed to have been modified. Bassett was running a Ford Crate Engine, thus the reason for sending the head to Ford Motor Company for inspection.
