Troy, NC(January 3, 2013) – Tommy Lemons, Jr. won races at Caraway Speedway and Motor Mile Speedway en route to a 12th place finish in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series National Point Standings.

Lemons won four races on the season, scored 25 top-five finishes and 28 top-ten finishes. The highlight of Lemons’ season came on August 24th at Caraway when he swept twin race victories starting from the second and sixth starting position. That would result in three consecutive victories for Lemons as he had won a race at Motor Mile Speedway one week earlier.

“We had a really good year in 2012,” Lemons said. “We got four wins on the season and a 12th place finish in the National Standings. We had some ups and downs this season but to finish in the top-five 25 times is awesome and it shows what we can do on any given night.”

Lemons scored his first victory of the season on June 23rd at Motor Mile Speedway, one of the toughest tracks in the region to win at. In that race he qualified on the pole, had a mechanical failure before the green flag, started shotgun on the field and took the win by inches at the finish line over the eventual NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National Championship.

Lemons went in to Martinsville Speedway’s Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 hoping to take home a grandfather clock when rear end problems derailed his chances of making it in to the feature event.

“There’s not much you can do about bad luck,” Lemons said about his Martinsville misfortunes. ”We sent the rear end off to be redone before this race and still had problems out of it. My team prepared all they could for this race and I think without the problems we would have had something for those guys.”

Lemons was able to rebound in his next race at Southern National Motorsports Park, collecting a fourth place finish in wild Thanksgiving All-Star Classic. Lemons will return to Southern National on March 2, 2013 where he will make his first start of the new season.

“We’re looking forward to the start of the season and I think we have big things ahead in 2013,” Lemons said. “We’d like to get a lot more wins next year and we’ve got the team to do it. We’ve got big goals for the new season.”
