FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Winston-Salem, NC(May 2, 2012) — After spending last weekend without any racing on his schedule, 14 year-old, Dillon Bassett is ready to get back on track at Kingsport Speedway in round four of the UARA-STARS Series 16 race schedule.

Despite not having any racing scheduled last weekend, Dillon did make it out to two different race tracks, first to support his brother, Ronnie Bassett, Jr. and the Bassett Racing team at the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown at Richmond International Raceway and then to test at Kingsport Speedway for this weekends race. The young driver and his team got to log a few laps in testing last Saturday, which he hopes prepares him for this weeks race, which will be his debut on Kingsport’s concrete oval.

“Kingsport is certainly a different kind of race track,” said Dillon following his test. “I haven’t raced a lot on concrete, but luckily I get to lean on Ronnie and the team has all been there and knows what to expect. Hopefully we learned enough in testing to put this car up front this weekend.”

Dillon comes into this race on the heels of three solid performances in the first three UARA-STARS Series races. At Hickory Motor Speedway in the season opener he finished sixth in only his second career UARA-STARS Series start, then backed that up with a second place effort at Dillon Motor Speedway. He then qualified fifth for his first start on the big one-mile, high banked Rockingham Speedway and raced in the top five most of the day before missing a shift late and finishing 10th.

His performances to date have been nothing shy of impressive and has the young driver tied for second in the point standings. Despite all the success he’s had already this season, the 14 year-old driver knows that each race comes with it’s own set of challenges.

“I don’t get caught up thinking about what we’ve done,” commented Dillon. “There are too many talented drivers and too many good teams to think that you’re going to run up front and finish good every week. I know that my team will have me the best possible car this weekend and I know that if everything goes right we’ll have a chance and in racing that’s all you can ask for.”

Dillon and the rest of the UARA-STARS Series drivers will get to practice for four hours Thursday afternoon beginning at 4:00pm. The race, which will be on Friday night is set to roll off at 8:00pm and will be carried live via pay-per-view on www.MotorsportsBroadcasting.com with updates on RACE22.com throughout the day.
