Client PR Report

Knoxville, TN(October 18, 2012) — With nine wins already on the season, Knoxville, Tennessee resident, Chad Finchum is looking for a breakout win in the seasons biggest race.

The Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 held at Martinsville Speedway is the biggest annual race for Late Model Stock Cars. With a payout of $25,000 to the winner and a purse near $100,000 total, drivers from all over the country will be converging on Martinsville, VA this weekend.

One of those drivers will be Finchum as he makes his second attempt to make the field for this prestigious race. Last year’s Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 was the first time Finchum failed to make the field for a race in any type of car. However, the young driver isn’t letting that hold him back this year.

“Missing the field last year was heartbreaking,” Finchum said. “It would mean a lot to make it in to the field this year and have a shot at winning. We’ve got all the parts and pieces, we just need a little bit of luck.”

Finchum had a successful season running at multiple venues. He picked up nine Late Model victories at Newport Speedway (TN) and finished second in the UARA-STARS race on the same track in a photo finish. He also had a second place effort at Motor Mile Speedway against some of the toughest competition in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, against much of the same top contenders, who will be at Martinsville.

Now, Finchum is hoping to make the field this weekend to have a shot of adding a grandfather clock to his living room.

“Making this race is big,” continued Finchum. “I’ve talked to plenty of people about this race and I think most all of the big stars have missed this race once or twice. That makes me feel better about last year, but this year I want to be in contention for the win.”

Finchum and his team have put a new engine program in place for this weekend with noted engine builder, Jeremy UpChurch. They also have a veteran Late Model Stock Car driver to lean on this weekend as former NASCAR Tennessee Champion, Wade Day will be helping to call the shots this weekend along with Finchum’s crew chief, Dinky Torbett.

With those elements in place and his performance to date this season, Finchum could be someone to keep an eye on at Martinsville. Practice for the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 kicks off on Saturday afternoon. Heat races and the main event in the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 are on Sunday afternoon.
