It is often said that, when one door closes, another door opens.

That is the case for the American Racer tire company. It was announced on Tuesday afternoon that the Championship Auto Racing Series (CARS) would no longer run on American Racer tires. However, that bad news is offset with the news that American Racer will be the official tire supplier for the brand new Carteret County Speedway.

“I’m really excited,” Carteret County Speedway promoter Adam Resnick told RACE22.com. “I think this is going to change local short track racinjg in the Southeast.”

American Racer tires have already been tested at Carteret County Speedway and both Resnick and American Racer’s Scott Juno are happy with the results.

“Very excited,” Scott Juno, director of racing at American Racer tire said. “We’ve tested at their track. It’s a beautiful facility. I think we’re going to be very successful there and I think it will be very good.”

Juno has checked out Carteret County Speedway in person and, like many who have already seen the facility, was impressed with the complex.

“It’s the most beautiful short track racing facility I have ever seen.” Juno remarked. “It is absolutely stunning. I was amazed to see it and to see how, if you think about it, it’s so clean and so put together well, it’s like you put to a Disney theme park. That’s my impression.”

Resnick said the tires are consistent which will make them affordable for competitors.

“The tire test, the other day, the fact that it’s a tire that’s going to be affordable for the drivers,” Resnick stated. “After 10 laps, they fall off two-tenths of a second and, 200 laps, they’re still going to be a shifting tire for you which will save the team so much money because they don ‘t have to buy six tires every week to practice on. They’re a very consistent tire too. Every tire is the same.”

Resnick said he was not concerned about the tire issues that so notably plagued the CARS Tour race at Orange County Speedway on Saturday night.

“I think that everybody can make a mistake,” Resnick explained. “I can definitely 100 percent reassure everybody we will never run that tire they ran on the right side at Orange county. The tire they ran the previous six races in the CARS Tour, the competitors I’ve talked to were very happy with the previous tire. They were very unhappy with the right side tire that they brought to Orange County.”

In order to make the switch to American Racer easy for competitors, Carteret County Speedway will sell a set of four sticker American Racer tires for $200 for the track’s first official race on September 6th.
