MOORESVILLE, NC (September 15, 2015): And then there were two. That’s the number of races remaining on the 2015 inaugural CARS Tour season schedule. For the first and only time this season the tour will travel to the state of South Carolina for this weekend’s BakerDist.com 200 at Myrtle Beach Speedway. The track often referred to simply as “The Beach” is located several miles from the Grand Strand along the Atlantic Ocean, and is recognized amongst teams as “the worst track there is on tires”. That simple statement couldn’t be any truer, thus making tire management the absolute key to success if you want win a race at “The Beach”. Super Late Model competitors aren’t as familiar with the .538 mile track which could leave the door wide open to make it eight different winners in nine races. While Late Model Stock regulars on the tour will have their hands full with a contingent of Myrtle Beach Speedway regulars, and newcomers looking to get a “test” race in prior to the Battle at the Beach 400 in November.

QUOTES:

Track Champion vs Tour Regulars, Who Will it be:

Coming off a record number of three local drivers doing battle against tour regulars at Concord, this weekend’s BakerDist.com 200 at Myrtle Beach may just very well top that. One of those names topping the list is recently crowned 2015 Myrtle Beach Speedway Late Model Stock track champion Sam Yarbrough. The Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina native is also a former winner of the famed Myrtle Beach 400 and has high expectations at his home track against the tour regulars Saturday night.

“I’m pretty excited to be making my CARS Tour debut at my home track of Myrtle Beach. To be able to compete against the best Late Model Stock drivers in the Southeast, which the CARS Tour has, is a pretty big deal for me. I would say that if we were racing anywhere else but Myrtle Beach I wouldn’t consider being a track regular an advantage, but we’ve gotten my car really good in the last couple months and want to defend our home turf. If I didn’t think we had a chance at the win Saturday we wouldn’t be trying, and would have just went ahead and focused on getting ready for Martinsville.” #20 Sam Yarbrough – Robert Elliott Trucking Chevrolet Late Model Stock Car

Late Model Success, Super Late Model Effort:

Lucas Ransone has competed full time, with the exception of one event, on the CARS Tour Super Late Model side of the things for the 2015 season putting the Madison, North Carolina driver 13th in the standings. While he’s yet to score his first career victory behind the wheel of a Super, he is a former Myrtle Beach 400 Late Model Stock winner. While the win in 2009 might be the biggest of his career, this weekend’s effort amongst the ultra-competitive super late models ranks has Ransone thinking that a win at “The Beach” might just equally compare.

“I’ve always run good at Myrtle Beach. We won the 400 in 2009 driving a Late Model Stock and then have had a couple of top five finishes in the Pro Cup Series there too. I know I’ve never driven a Super Late Model there but I like our chances of another top three run this weekend and maybe even a win. This is a track where it doesn’t matter what you drive, you have to master racing the race track and saving your race tires. I honestly feel like it will be easier to save your stuff in a super than anything I’ve driven there. If we can do that and get this mechanical monkey off our back, I think we have just as good shot at anyone this weekend.” – #00 Lucas Ransone – LTR Utilities Chevrolet Super Late Model

The Effects of Motorsports Marketing at the Grassroots Level:

After sponsoring Gus Dean’s #56 Super Late Model while hosting Baker Distributing employees at the CARS Tour Southern National event in May. Baker Distributing, a sales and distributing company of HVAC, refrigeration, food service equipment, parts and supplies for residential, commercial, and marine applications with 200 locations in 22 states, will jump on board as the title sponsor of this weekend’s 200 lap event at Myrtle Beach Speedway. This level of participation and involvement has Baker Distributing employees, customers, and partners looking forward to a major event for branding, business-to-business, and hospitality reasons alike.

It’s no secret that a large portion of HVAC/R technicians, our customer base, are race fans so when we look to promote something big like the new bakerdist.com website, we look to racing as a vital promotional avenue. We have experienced a tremendous following from our 2015 sponsorship of the #56 Dean Racing team and driver Gus Dean. We witnessed firsthand the excitement back in May at Southern National, so now it only makes sense to sponsor the CARS Tour event at Myrtle Beach Speedway right in our backyard.” – Jeff Walker – Baker Distributing VP of Business Development and Marketing
