Sophia, NC — It’s time to crank up the engines again at Caraway Speedway with the Spring Classic 500 Season Opener this weekend. The Southern Modified Tour will make its 40th appearance at the famed ½ mile asphalt oval. With a full field of 26 cars on slate for the 150 Lap Open Wheel event and the new half way break format, the action is guaranteed to be exciting.
The Late Model Stocks will begin the season with a 250 Lap Triple Crown event, the first of three paying a $5,000 bonus if a driver wins all three events. Drivers are expected from across three states for this event as well as the 75 Lap Late Model Super Truck event.
Saturday will official start the season with practice and qualifying for the Southern Modified Tour, Late Model Stock Triple Crown Series and Late Model Super Trucks. The fields will be set for Sunday’s events. The supporting divisions will kick off their season at 4pm Saturday afternoon. Bk Auto Limited Late Models; Bib’s Downtown Mini Stocks, Street Stocks, Mini Trucks, Auto Metal & Recycler U-Cars and Hornets all take to the track searching for the first victory of the season.
Sunday afternoon the grandstands open at 12 Noon for race fans to secure a seat and be ready for the on track autograph session at 1pm. The green flag will wave at 2pm kicking the 47th season into action.
