Sweeping changes are coming to the Late Model Stock Car division at Caraway Speedway in 2016.

The NASCAR sanctioned track in Sophia, North Carolina racetrack will run six 150 lap, $5,000-to-win Late Model Stock Car races in 2016, track promoter Darren Hackett confirmed to Race22.com.  The changes come as the track has seen a significant reduction in their car counts in the Late Model Stock Car division.

The 150 lap races will include a mandatory pit stop during the races between laps 25 and 125 but, much like the rules in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series exhibition events, it is only required that a driver comes down pit road at last one time in the event.  During the pit stops, teams can change up to two tires.

“We’re putting excitement back in the show for the fans and the crews,” Hackett said.  “With two fresh tires, you’ll get better racing.”

Hackett said the Late Model Stock Car schedule will not conflict with either the Championship Auto Racing Series (CARS) Late Model Stock Tour or Motor Mile Speedway.  The Late Model Stock Car races will be held on: Sunday, March 6th; Saturday, March 26th; Saturday, May 28th; Saturday, June 18th; Friday, July 1st; and Saturday, September 3rd.

The six races will be part of a 20 race schedule for Caraway Speedway which also features four NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races, two Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model races and races for the new Southern Modified Racing Series presented by (PASS) — a series founded by Darren and Renee Hackett.
