CHARLOTTE, NC :: Brayton Haws will be making his debut in a Straight Rail car next month in the Snowflake 100 at Five Flags Speedway.
The Snowflake 100 is the 100-lap Pro Late Model race run on the eve of Super Late Model racing’s most prestigious event, the Snowball Derby. Haws will be racing for veteran racer Mike Garvey in the event and he’s hoping to gain some valuable experience in the Snowball prelude.
“I’m just hoping to get some experience in a Straight Rail car and a good finish at the big event,” Haws said.
Haws has never been to Five Flags Speedway, not even as a spectator, but he knows how special the place is and what it would mean to race at the half-mile track in Pensacola, Florida.
“I’m really excited. Like I said, I’m excited to run that racetrack. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. I’m excited to get experience in a straight rail car.”
Much like the Autumn Classic, a race he won, and the upcoming Myrtle Beach 400, tire management will again be a factor for Haws in the Snowflake 100. Haws knows he’ll be getting plenty of tire management practice. He also knows he’ll have a good car in the Snowflake, driving for veteran racer Mike Garvey.
“I think he won the last race at Pensacola,” Haws remarked. “We’re definitely, we know we’re going to be in some good equipment. Hopefully that will give us a good finish and hopefully we’ll be able to run through how different the cars are or if they’re the same and he can give me some pointers and tips about the car on the track.”
The Pro Late Model Snowflake 100 will be run on Saturday, December 6th, the night before the 300-lap Snowball Derby Super Late Model race.
