Brayton Haws claimed the pole for the Championship Auto Racing Series (CARS) Late Model Stock Tour finale at Hickory Motor Speedway, with a time of 15.145 seconds.
The pole not only gives Haws a prime starting position for the 150-lap features, it earned Haws a bonus point in the heated three-way championship battle in the Late Model Stock Car division of the ten-race touring series. Entering this weekend’s event, Haws and Deac McCaskill trailed points leader Myatt Snider by three markers.
Josh Berry and Jake Crum, a pair of drivers attempting the Double Duty Dare for a $40,000 bonus if they can win both the Late Model Stock and Super Late Model races tonight at Hickory, qualified second and third. ValleyStar Credit Union 300 winner Tommy Lemons qualified fourth, while Deac McCaskill was fifth-fastest.
Snider will have to fight through the field to maintain his points lead, as he qualified 18th out of 26 cars who took time.
