LUCAMA, NC – Bradley McCaskill will be sporting a new look on his Grafix Unlimited Late Model in Sunday’s Jerry Moody Memorial at Southern National Motorsports Park with new colors – pink and black.
That pink wrap is to raise cancer for breast cancer awareness after Kaye McCaskill, Deac McCaskill’s mother and Bradley McCaskill’s aunt, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
“We found out a family member of ours was diagnosed with breast cancer in the past two weeks and really just want to spread some awareness for it and show a lot of support for her,” McCaskill said. “She’s definitely bedrock to our family. We want to show support for her.”
McCaskill’s new wrap, which he designed himself at Grafix Unlimited, is not just unique because of the colors but the design as well. The entire side wrap includes the numbers, quarter panel sponsors and contingency decals.
“Since we’ve been doing a lot of the Sprint Cup cars, we kind of just learned some new tricks of the trade and find new ways to make everything lighter for the racer and easier to install. It’s just one decal. Numbers, quarter panel name, contingency sponsors, everything is one piece on the side. Same with the hood, one piece there. We’re just trying to save weight and time. It’s cheaper for our customers because it’s less material.”
Entering Sunday’s race, Bradley McCaskill has been on a bit of a hot streak. He won the first of two races that comprised of the season opener at Southern National Motorsports Park on April 11th and then backed that up with a second place finish. McCaskill then raced at East Carolina Motor Spedway’s season opener on May 2nd where he finished in second.
The Jerry Moody Memorial will feature one of the most stacked fields Late Model Stock Car racing has seen yet this season, however. Deac McCaskill, Mike Darne and Matt McCall will join names like Andrew Grady, Tony Grady and Haley Moody in pursuit of the $3,000 prize and the unique pig trophy.
“I hope we can continue this streak,” McCaskill said. “That’s the plan anyways. There’s definitely more competition here. Deac’s here, Mike Darne, the Grady’s are here, with Haley here she’s going to be strong of course. Good competition here, good strong field of cars. We’re always looking for that big pig. Matt McCall’s in a league of his own. If we can just run with him, we’ll be happy.”
The Inaugural Jerry Moody Memorial will go green at 3pm EST. RACE22.com will have Five Star Bodies RACEDAY LIVE up to the minute coverage of the race.
