Bobby McCarty posted the fastest time on Friday night during qualifying for the Rodney Cook Classic at Ace Speedway.
McCarty bested a 21-car field of Late Model Stock Cars during Stallings Classic Cars pole qualifying on Friday night during night one of racing action for the Rodney Cook Classic. McCarty turned a lap of 15.386 beating 2019 Ace Speedway Late Model Stock Car Track Champion Ryan Millington by just .003 seconds (15.389) for the $300 pole award.
Dustin Rumley, who is coming off a great run in the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway, qualified third at a 15.398. Layne Riggs and Jason York completed the top five in qualifying. Defending Rodney Cook Classic race winner Justin Carroll will start sixth ahead of former race winner Blake Stallings.
Trevor Ward, Jacob Heafner, and Justin Hicks completed the top five finishers. Other notables in the field include Davin Scites who starts 12th, former race winner RD Smith starts 13th, Stacy Puryear starts 15th and NASCAR Whelen All-American Series North Carolina State points runner up Thomas Beane will start 17th of 21 entries.
Racing starts after 4:00pm with eight feature divisions on tap tomorrow Saturday, October 19th. RACE22 will provide RACEDAY LIVE updates presented by Montgomery Performance and Stallings Classic Cars at 11:00am with practice for all divisions.
