Bobby Gower started the season off with four wins in the early months racing at Dillon Motor Speedway (South Carolina) and Wake County Speedway (North Carolina) but the month of June cooled him down.  Now, Gower’s setting his sights on getting hot again.

Gower, 39, picked up his first win of the season at Dillon on April 26th and followed that up by winning the next two races at the track, which were on May 9th and May 23rd, prompting the track to issue a bounty on him.  On May 15th, he also went to victory lane at Wake County.

The month of June, however, was not kind to Gower but he’s looking to get back to his winning ways in what has, so far, been his most successful season.

“It’s been a great season so far,” Gower said.  “The month of June was really rough.  Now it’s July so hopefully we can do what we did in April and May.”

Despite being relatively new in the Late Model scene, and certainly new to the headlines, Gower has over 25 years of racing experience – mostly in Go-Karts.  He’s been racing in Late Models for four years and now he’s enjoying his time in the headlines.

“Yes, so far, as far as then beginning of the season, absolutely.  As long as we can finish out like we started, it will definitely be my strongest season.”

Gower has also raced at Southern National Motorsports Park (North Carolina) this season, a track he plans to return to while also making stops at other tracks – such as Coastal Plains Raceway and the new Carteret County Speedway which is set to open in September.

“I think we might do a little traveling,” Gower remarked.  “I want to go to a couple different tracks thanw hat we’ve been going to.  We went to SNMP at the beginning of the season.  I’d like to come back some.  Maybe Jacksonville.  There’s a new track in Carteret County, I’d like to try that out this season, maybe East Carolina as well.”

Along with traveling, Gower is also setting sights on a championship at Dillon Motor Speedway – but the misfortunes of June have set him back.

“It hurt us the last two races,” Gower explained.  “I had a DNF the last race.  We had carburetor issues the last race and didn’t start the race.  Race before that, we finished 10th. I don’t think we’re leading points but we have a long season ahead of us so we’ll see.”

As the summer months get hotter, Gower is hoping he can get hot again and return to victory lane several more times before then season concludes.
