GREENVILLE, SC :: Anthony Anders made a statement over the weekend, winning three races in two different states in two days.  Anders started the weekend in victory lane at Kingsport Speedway in Tennessee and ended the weekend in victory lane at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in South Carolina.  Anders won both 40-lap twin races at Greenville-Pickens Speedway on Saturday night.

“This was a great weekend for us.  I hope we have more weekends like it,” said Anders.  “We finally won a race at Kingsport on Friday then we come out here and sweep the weekend here at Greenville.  This is the best weekend ever.”

Anders qualified in second and took the lead on the first lap of the first race of the night at Greenville-Pickens.  He went on to lead the whole race on his way back to victory lane for the second time of the weekend.

“Our car was really good,” said Anders.  “We were able to get the lead on the first lap and check out.  It’s always a lot more fun when you don’t have any cars in front of you and can run your own pace.”

For the second race, Anders started in third position.  He waited patiently as the two leaders raced side-by-side for 10 laps.  After the two decided their battle and ran single-file, Anders made quick work of passing both cars and taking the lead.  Once again, when Anders took control of the top spot, he didn’t surrender it.

“It’s exciting to know that we can run up front and stay up front as well as be able to pass,” said Anders.  “Winning that second race was the best way to cap off a weekend.  When you come to a race, you don’t come to finish second, you come to win.  That’s always our goal, to win races.  So, we accomplished our mission in all three races we ran this weekend.”

The next race Anders will compete in will be the Myrtle Beach 400 (250 laps), which was postponed from last November.  He will run that race on Friday night, March 22nd as well as the Myrtle Beach Spring Challenge 150 lap race on Saturday night, March 23rd.

“We had to take a provisional just to make it in to the Myrtle Beach 400,” Anders said.  “At the end of the season, our program wasn’t where we wanted it to be.  So, we’re excited to come in with this momentum.  Hopefully we can race our way through the field.  It’s a long race so I’m sure we can.  I mean, winning three straight races, there’s no better way to enter that race.  I hope it’s a sign that we have things headed on the right track.”
