COEBURN, VA :: 17-year-old Adam Gray of, Kingsport, TN, claimed the win in both twin Late Model features Saturday at Lonesome Pine Raceway. Gray, a rookie to the Late Model ranks, had made only six starts in the Clark Signs & Graphics Late Model division.
After an invert of four positions, Josh Hale was on point for the first Late Model feature. Adam Gray wasted no time getting to the lead, as he powered around Hale in turn one. The caution would wave on lap nine when Jody Bostic and Matthew Eades tangled in turn two.
Working the restart, Gray was able to power back to the lead over the No. 29 of Hale. Gray began to pull away in his No. 37 machine. Adam Gray would go uncontested to gain his first career Late Model victory.
First feature winner, Adam Gray, was on the pole for the second Late Model feature of the night. Straight to the lead went Gray. On lap six, Gray continued his lead as the No. 6 of Fleming began looking for a chance at the lead. Fleming would settle into second-place by halfway, with Gray continuing to lead.
Derek Woodward made his way passed the No. 29 and No. 22 to move his No. 18 machine into third-place. With the white flag waving, Gray had pulled to a six car advantage over second-place, Fleming. Gray would drive on to claim his second career Late Model victory.
