FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Winston-Salem, NC(May 30, 2012) — The last month for Dillon Bassett has been agonizing as he’s had to sit idle since crashing out of a May 4th race at Kingsport Speedway, but his wait is almost over as he and the Bassett Racing team prepare to head South to Anderson Motor Speedway for round five of the UARA-STARS Series.

It’s one thing to have to sit out for nearly a month after having a good run, but with the performance Dillon had at Kingsport, the young man has been ready to get back out there and prove that it was just a fluke. At Kingsport, the team and it’s driver struggled all weekend to find the speed they needed and after qualifying a dismal 18th, the young driver admitted that he made a mistake early in the race.

“The wreck was my fault, I lost my composure and got into with the car ahead of me,” said Dillon after the race. “I was looking for a lane to pass and couldn’t find one and just got into him.”

With the young driver being willing to admit his mistake and making an effort to learn from it, he should find himself better when he unloads at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, SC for the fifth of 16 races on the UARA-STARS Series.

“I learned a lot from having to stand there watching that race,” stated Dillon. “I don’t want to have to stand by watching my friends and competitors race from pit road. I need to be out there logging laps and learning as I go.”

Dillon will have 150-laps to learn a little more this Friday night at Anderson Motor Speedway, a track that his brother, Ronnie, Jr. visited victory lane at twice last season. He’ll look to lean on his brother for a little guidance, but after a successful test session last Friday, the Rookie of the Year contender feels he’ll be solid come race time.

“I know there’s a lot of things that my brother can teach me about this place. Last season he started from the pole one race and dominated and then started toward the middle of the pack another race and raced his way to the front. So, I think I can learn from him and take that and try to apply it to my driving style and see if we can’t just as good as he does there.”

“The test last week went pretty good,” continued Dillon. “We weren’t as fast as we thought we needed to be, but we were great on long runs, which will really translate in the race. If I’ve learned one thing in this series, you have to save your tires to be good at the end and that’s when it counts.”

If you can’t make it to Anderson Motor Speedway on Friday night, the Bassett Racing team will have updates on twitter @bassettracers or you can purchase the race on pay-per-view right from your computer at www.motorsportsbroadcasting.com. You can also view typed updates all day on RACE22.com.
