Series PR Report
Charlotte, NC(March 25, 2011) — Over the last five seasons the South Carolina Clash has carved quite a niche on the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model schedule. Dillon (SC) Motor Speedway will host the popular event on Saturday March 26 and The Clash promises to pack all the drama race fans can handle into 150 fast paced green flag laps.
It seems every South Carolina Clash contested so far has had its own unique identity, especially those hosted by Dillon Motor Speedway. Justin Wakefield took the win in 2008 in temperatures in excess of 100 degrees. In 2009 Maine’s Ben Rowe bested Wakefield to become the first and only Northern driver to win the South Carolina Clash. In 2010 Ryan Blaney totally dominated Dillon Motor Speedway to earn his first career PASS South win.
The 2011 South Carolina Clash promises to be just as exciting with competitors from across the country making the trek to Ron Barfield’s beautiful 4/10 mile facility. PASS South points leader and winner of the season opener Jay Fogleman looks to build on his early season momentum. Perennial front runners and championship contenders like reigning PASS South and National Champion Preston Peltier, Ryan Blaney and Andy Loden will be looking to close the gap on Fogleman with good runs at Dillon.
Five-time PASS North Champion Johnny Clark will be making his first trip to Dillon along with California’s Ryan Reed and Atlantic Canada’s multi-time champion John Fleming plan to double up and race at Dillon before moving on to practice at North Wilkesboro Speedway in preparation for THE RACE. Truck Series competitor Joey Coulter and Virginia’s David Quackenbush return for their first starts of 2011. Local fans will have something to cheer about as Hal Goodson returns in his familiar blue #16 and R.A. Brown debuts his PASS Super Late Model ride. All of these drivers plus many, many more are expected at Dillon Motor Speedway this weekend for what looks to be another ultra-competitive PASS South event.
In addition to the PASS South Super Late Models competing in the 150 lap South Carolina Clash, Dillon Motor Speedway will have a host of other racing divisions to entertain race fans, including the new CCS Late Model Sportsman division along with the Legends, Bandoleros and Mini Cups. Plus, the Allison Legacy cars join PASS for the first time this season.
Action will kick off on Friday, March 25 with rotating practice for all divisions from 3-7:30 PM. On Saturday, March 26 rotating practice for all divisions will start at 11 AM. PASS South qualifying will begin at 4 PM, with racing slated to start at 6 PM. Dillon Motor Speedway is located just off Interstate 95 on SC Highway 9 in Dillon, SC.
