Huntersville, NC(December 16, 2010) — As the dominos began to fall in my most recent article titled “As the Wheels Turn”, another domino was in the process of falling.
Now that we’ve let you know what Sam Hunt, George Miedecke, Clint King and Ronnie Bassett, Jr. are doing in 2011, Brennan Poole is set to reveal his plans after vacating his seat at Jamie Yelton’s Fat Head Racing and Bassett and Miedecke have replaced him at the budding driver development organization.
Poole’s departure came to a huge shock to many inside Late Model Stock Car racing including team owner, Jamie Yelton, who was already making plans for the new season, but was expecting Poole to return. Yelton’s options would be wide and varied with Poole leaving, one of the best seats in all of Late Model Stock Car racing was open and young drivers from near and far were seeking to be the driver in that seat.
For Poole, it seemed as if maybe this was the move that people were expecting to come down the road for him as many expected him to complete his Late Model Stock Car racing career with Fat Head Racing, who had groomed him for the last two years. Poole’s options were wide and varied as well as he very well could have found himself racing on TV and for a high profile team, but that wasn’t what his intentions were as at the still young age of only 19, he didn’t feel the need to push the button at this point.
Poole after looking over all his options is ready to make a return to Late Model Stock Car racing and a return to the UARA-STARS Series, where not picking up the championship this season left unfinished business. Poole made a huge statement during the 2010 season as he went to victory lane six times on six different tracks becoming the winningest driver in a single season in series history. His history making didn’t end there as it continued becoming the first driver to win three races in a row in the UARA as well as becoming the first tour regular to win at Greenville-Pickens Speedway, which had been dominated by track regulars previously.
Poole knows that he’s got a tall task ahead of him as he embarks on building a new Late Model Stock Car team and with the success he had last season, but this young driver never steps down from a challenge and is expecting to have a great junior season in Late Model Stock Cars. In an effort to make sure that he’ll have the best possible chance at continuing to grow as a Late Model Stock Car driver, he’s putting all the right pieces into place to make that work.
First, his crew chief from the last two seasons, David King was also making an exit from Fat Head Racing following the end of the 2010 season and it was the perfect opportunity for them to continue working together. Poole’s new team will have King calling the shots, just like he did in Poole’s first to season in Late Model Stock Cars. Poole will also have some crew members follow him over to his new endeavor as well as gaining some new guys to help take care of his car. Poole will also remain behind the wheel of a Marlowe Racing Chassis, which has served him well the last couple of seasons.
It’s clear the new “Brennan Poole Racing” team has their act together and they’re putting the right pieces in the right places to make this next season, Poole’s best. With the ability and determination we’ve seen out of Poole the last two seasons, we’re likely to see this new team show up and be just as strong as he was in 2010, but it’ll take a lot of work to make it happen.
