R&S Race Cars announced that five-time NASCAR Weekly Racing Series champion Philip Morris will take a sabbatical from auto racing to spend time with his family following the death of his son Blake earlier this year.
Former NASCAR crew chief Marcus Richmond partnered with Steve Stallings in late 2019 to form R&S Race Cars after purchasing A&E Race Cars, and had planned to field Late Models for Morris during the 2020 season as he attempted to pursue a sixth Weekly Racing Series title.
With Morris now out of the car for the foreseeable future, Ty Gibbs will pilot the #19 for R&S Race Cars at Greenville-Pickens Speedway this weekend, with Blake Stallings assuming control of the car at Ace Speedway’s season-opener on May 22.
A driver lineup for the rest of the 2020 season will be announced by R&S Race Cars at a later date.
