Franklin County Speedway plans to reopen with their Star City Stunner, originally scheduled for March, next weekend.
Franklin County Speedway, located in Callaway, Virginia, will run six divisions, including Limited Late Models and Mini-Stocks, on May 16th. The track said they would adhere to social distancing recommendations and are working on a plan to allow fans to attend in some capacity.
“We will compete with six divisions with social distancing in place to ensure everyone’s safety,” speedway operator Langley Austin said in the track’s reopening announcement. “We will release our safety guidelines for racers next week in full but most of you are practicing it every day without issue. We will be able to do it in the open air of a 40+ acre facility that can hold as many as 12,000 people including stands, pits, and trackside parking areas.
“We are still working on a plan for the fans that will likely either be a drive-in type situation or something else that works to meet our obligations to run this event.”
The green flag will wave at 7pm.
