One of the few complete motorsports facilities of the Mid-Atlantic region, Dominion Raceway, will play host to round seven of the 2019 CARS Late Model Stock Tour this Saturday night. The Thornburg, Virginia track has hosted just one single CARS Tour event back in the 2017 season which featured twin format races. Taking the checkered was 2018 Super Late Model champion Jared Fryar, followed by the Late Model Stock youngster driver Layne Riggs who saw his opportunity to pick up his first series win that year. As the series returns this weekend, he no doubt has to be favorite to be a front runner with his 1.5 average finishing position in the twin events.
However, on this go around a full 125 lap, traditional style race lies ahead for CARS Tour competitors. Several track regulars, like current points leader Doug Barnes Jr., Michael Hardin, and Howie DiSavino Jr. will all be looking to defend their home turf. A single championship point separates Bobby McCarty and Josh Berry from one another at the top of the standings, and with Taylor Gray’s absence this weekend, the TORP Chassis Rookie of the Year battle is now wide open.

Mini from Manassas (VA) Sets Sights on Dominion Weekend:
One of the fan favorites each and every week is fourteen-year-old Mini Tyrrell from nearby Manassas, Virginia. The youngster and his family have latched on to the tour and the fan base each week promoting their team, the tour, but most importantly his philanthropy work to raise funds to fight childhood cancer. This weekend at Dominion, Mini and company will be not only competing at their home track, but they will be hosting a raffle for the Children’s National hospital in order to raise funds to give back. With such a big weekend planned for the youngster, the high expectations to perform both on and off the track is something he’s looking forward to.
“Returning to home track and hosting many family and friends will be awesome. I think the way things are going for us we should be able to mix things up in the top 10 and if we could grab our first top five, that would be a cherry on top. But the main thing we have going on this weekend is off the track. We are having some raffles to raise money toward building a dream racecar that will look like my race car and go in the Children’s National Hospital Cancer Suite, in Washington D.C. A few years ago I raised $15,000 for a vitals room in the same hospital, so I am hoping we can do the same thing this time. We’ve got some cool stuff signed by Jeff Gordon, Darrell Waltrip, and a few other things we raffling. It should be a big weekend for us right in our backyard, so I can’t wait until Saturday. ” Mini Tyrrell – #81 Friends of Jaclyn Chevrolet
Doug Barnes Jr. Back with CARS Tour at His Home Track:
Current Dominion Raceway Late Model Stock points leader Doug Barnes Jr. will compete alongside the tour’s best at his home track in Saturday night’s Radley Cadillac & Chevrolet 125. Barnes Jr., because of his entry will receive the Circle Track Warehouse hometown hero award, receiving free Hoosier tires for competing in the CARS Tour race and being in the top three in track points. While Barnes Jr. might be considered a local to the Dominion Raceway, the Whiteford, Maryland driver, knows what it’s like to race with the best the CARS Tour has to offer. With four career starts to his name, and a career-best finish of 5th at Motor Mile dating back to the 2015 inaugural season; Barnes Jr. is relishing at the opportunity to get back behind the wheel of his car in CARS Tour format.
“Being the track points leader headed into this weekend’s CARS Tour race is great, but we still have a lot of work to do if we’re going to win another track championship at Dominion. I’m just excited about having a race we can put all our focus into winning, and not necessarily the stress of a championship points battle. The one goal we have is to win, there’s no next one for us. Looking back to 2015 when I last raced in the CARS Tour I barely had any Late Model Stock experience. Now that, I’ve been racing these cars for a while, I feel way more comfortable and way more comfortable in my own ability. There’s no doubt the CARS Tour has the toughest competition in Late Model racing right now, I’m just happy to be back a part of it.” Doug Barnes Jr. – #88B Barnes Paving Inc. Chevrolet
Rowdy Time for Radley Automotive:
The CARS Tour returns to Dominion Raceway this Saturday night after making its debut at the 4/10 mile track during the 2017 season. One of the main reasons for the tour making its way back to the Central Virginia track is the support of the event title sponsor, Radley Cadillac & Chevrolet. The Washington D.C. based automotive group has been a huge supporter of Dominion Raceway over the years, and when the opportunity to sponsor the biggest race of the year at the Dominion Raceway oval came up, the Radley Automotive Group jumped at the opportunity.
“We at Radley Chevrolet and Cadillac are proud to be associated with the CARS Tour race at Dominion this Saturday night. Radley Automotive is one of the largest and longest tenure sponsors at Dominion, and we very much enjoy our relationship together. We’ll have the free Radley Rowdy Pit Party on Friday, to kind of kick things off. That’s our opportunity to give back. That commitment to our community are hallmarks of ours at Radley. We just hope everyone in central Virginia makes plans to enjoy this family-friendly event, it certainly will be the biggest event at the Dominion oval all season long.” Jonathan Pittman – Radley Automotive Group, Principle
