Rob’s Ramblings …
Danville, VA ~ The big mystery at South Boston last weekend was the fact that Stacy Puryear was not on hand. Puryear was at Caraway for their opener finishing 16th. This came after it was widely reported earlier in the year that Puryear would go for the Sobo point title. One now has to wonder if Puryear has decided to race full time there or even return to Orange County to defend his championship there.
Puryear reportedly blew his built engine whil testing for South Boston and only had a crate engine and that is why he decided to go to Caraway Speedway instead of South Boston. Puryear will likely return to South Boston or Orange County once he has his built engine back in the car.
With the first lmsc race slated at Ace this Friday after the wet rainy weekend washed out the original opening date, the big question is how many cars will there be in the field? The only “certains” are Bobby Griffin, Thomas Scott, Dustin Rumley, and defending track champion, Dean Fogleman. Among those originally not expected to return are Rodney Cook, Speedy Faucette, and Dane Rudolph. Rudolph’s team has decided to run full time at Sobo, but Cook has already said that he’ll be there for the first race and Faucette may change his mind since new track management is in place.
After last week’s disaster in the fantasy picks, I’m hoping to rebound this week. It’s a good thing I don’t put money on my picks or I would qualify for a government bailout soon.
