With Late Model Stock Car counts at East Carolina Motor Speedway dwindling quickly, the track has announced a schedule change for the June 15th event. The Late Model division at East Carolina has seen an average of only about six cars competing in each event in 2019. 11 drivers total have competed this year so far but only six of them have run all three races.
The Charger division, which becomes the top division for June 15th, on the other hand, has seen a resurgence in car counts with the counts as high as 10 for the season opener with no repeat winners in the three races so far in 2019.
East Carolina posted the following message via Facebook.
“Due to a minimal late model car count, late models will not be running our next race on June 15th. The Charger class will run twin 40 lap races with purse of $700.00 for each race. Top 8 cars will be inverted for 2nd race.”
It’s unknown at this time if the Late Models will return for the following event on June 29th.
