FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Cole Bruce picked up another victory at Dominion Raceway on Saturday night in the Dominion Racer division as the track enters its final races of the season.
Bruce was the fastest qualifier but, after an invert, had to start in the fourth position. He was able to survive an early incident. In the later stages of the race, he continued to threaten for the lead. With five laps to go, the lead car spun, allowing Bruce to take the lead – and the win.
“Saturday went well, Bruce said. “Started fourth and, on lap two, a car hit the wall and went into turn three, came down on me and lost a right front fender. I got a little nervous when we came off the wall and, since I was at his door and he came down and spun out. We had a great restart on the outside front row and followed the leader. Kept pressuring him and waited for him to make a mistake. With about five to go, he got loose and spun out in front of me and I was lucky enough to miss it. Led the race from the last restart and took the win from there. “
While the season is winding down at Dominion Raceway, Bruce is looking ahead to the final race of the season at the Thornburg, Virginia track while also getting ready to compete at the three-quarter-mile Richmond Raceway complex. Bruce is already building up momentum with his win on Saturday night.
“We’re hoping to close out the season at Dominion Raceway with another victory,” Bruce remarked. “We’re already beginning to turn our attention to Richmond on October 20th. We’re going to go race in the Limited Late Model race. It’s a big race for us and I hope we have a good run out there, hopefully even a victory.”
The Limited Late Model race at Richmond, part of the Commonwealth Classic organized by the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) will run for 50 laps on October 20th.
