The Rodney Cook Memorial Race is just around the corner and today the event added a title sponsor and more money to the purse for the Late Model Stock Car event.
Darrell Allen Body Shop has stepped up to sponsor the Rodney Cook Memorial race on Saturday July 2nd. The event will now be known as the Darrell Allen Body Shop Rodney Cook Memorial. The sponsorship also includes a $1,000 bonus to the winner of the Late Model Stock Car portion of the event. The bonus elevates the purse to $3,000 to win.
“Having Darrell Allen Body Shop come on board to sponsor this event is a big deal for us,” said event promoter Langley Austin. “Mike Terrell is great guy who loves Ace Speedway and racing in this region. We’re glad to have him on board as the title sponsor of the Rodney Cook Memorial this year. The money he’s putting up to the winner is incredible too, it takes the event to another level.”
The Rodney Cook Memorial 114-lap Late Model Stock Car race is being run by NASCAR Whelen All-American Series rules. The event will now pay $3,000 to win with the bonus money posted by Darrell Allen Body Shop.
“$3,000 to win is a good payout for this event. Of course we’d like to continue to add to it but we feel strongly that it’s enough to get people to get their cars to Ace Speedway on Saturday July 2nd. Most all of the names synonymous with Late Model racing at Ace have already committed to coming out and running this event. We think it’s going to be the biggest event in the region for Late Model Stock Cars.”
The Darrell Allen Body Shop Rodney Cook Memorial event will take place on Saturday July 2nd at 8pm. Advance tickets to the event will be available in the coming days via the event website www.RodneyCookMemorial.com. Lap sponsors are available for all 114-laps of the event and can be purchased on the website as well.
A “Qualifier” race will be held next Friday June 24th for the Late Model Stock Cars in advance of the Rodney Cook Memorial race. The race will be 60-laps and the winner of the event will get a guaranteed starting spot inside the top five for the Rodney Cook Memorial race.
“We think this is a great opportunity to get the real Late Models back on track at Ace with the management change,” said track promoter Langley Austin. “We want to get back to racing true Late Model Stock Cars and a separate Limited division. This “qualifier” race will give Late Model drivers more incentive to get out on June 24th for a tune-up before the Darrell Allen Body Shop Rodney Cook Memorial the following week.”
